Arterial pressure measurements
• Before putting on the cuff find the place where upper
arm pulsation is maximum. Normally it is located from 3 to 5
cm higher the elbow bend on the side facing the body.
• Put on the cuff so that the sensor is in the place,
which you have previously located. The mark on the cuff corresponds
to the location of the sensor.
• Sit down at the table. Put your left hand on the table.
(It is possible to measure arterial pressure on the right hand
but the results may be slightly different). By rhythmical squeezing
the pneumatic pump with your right hand create the pressure
in the cuff 30 to 40 mm Hg higher than your expected upper pressure.
If the level of your upper pressure is not known, it is recommended
to pump the cuff until the manometer pointer indicates 200 units.
If the indicator keeps producing rhythmic signals, pump the
cuff until the signals stop.
• Press smoothly the button of the pump so that the pressure
falls with a rate from 3 to 8 mm Hg/s (abrupt fall of the air
pressure in the cuff inevitably results in measurement error
even when the sensor is in the right position). When the first
tone and LED signals appear, the pressure in the cuff indicated
by the manometer corresponds to the upper (systolic) pressure
and the moment when the last tone and LED signals are produced
corresponds to the lower (diastolic) pressure.
• When periodical signals stop disconnect the connecting
pipe from the electronic unit so that the cuff air pressure
be reduced promptly. Disconnect the plug of the sensor cord.
The next measurement can be made after the air deflation from
the system is completed and a short rest is taken.
• Unfasten the textile clasp by pulling slightly the cuff
edge. Remove the cuff from the arm.
What you need to know to operate the measuring unit by yourself:
How to Check Accuracy of the Pressure Monitor
If for any reason there is a doubt about the accuracy of your
blood pressure monitor, you can check it with the aid of phonendoscope.
Prepare the monitor for operation and place phonendoscope on
the inner side of the elbow bend. Start measuring in a usual
manner. Watch the manometer reading and LED signaling and in
the same time listen to “Korotkoff’s tones’’
with the aid of phonendoscope. The beginning of audible signals
in phonendoscope and periodical signals of the meter should
coincide. If they are shifted in time for one or two beats it
can be explained by different sensitivity of the measuring device
and your hearing. This method of checking is the most objective
one in home conditions.

Fixing
The device does not operate with new cells being inserted
• Polarity of the cells was not observed.
• No contact between cells and contact springs.
• Contact springs of the cell compartment are loose.
• No contact between the sensor plug and ÄÒÊ-1Ì sensor socket
• Remove the cells and install them with the polarity
being observed.
• Turn the cells without removing them from the compartment.
Clean the battery and spring contacts.
• Bend the contact springs so that the cells are inserted
in the compartment with a little force.
• Remove ÄÒÊ-1Ì sensor plug and insert it again tightly
in the socket.
With the blood pressure monitor being ON the battery discharge
LED indicator constantly shines
• Cells are flat
• Replace the cells with new ones.
Measurements are not stable or there are no LED and
sound signals.
• ÄÒÊ-1Ì sensor is not installed correctly in the compression
cuff.
• Location of the compression cuff on the arm is not correct
• The conical air plug is not tight enough in the air
socket
• Place ÄÒÊ-1Ì sensor so that the membrane faces the cuff
surface applied to the arm
• Make sure that the cuff is placed on the arm correctly.
• Remove the conical air plug, place it again tightly
and half- turn it
Pneumatic pump does not create enough pressure in the compression
cuff, pressure in the cuff falls rapidly
• Leakage in monitor components.
• Detect the leakage point by successive pinching of rubber
pipes. If the leakage is not detected, it means that the cuff
is not hermetic and it should be replaced.
