This sensor is housed in a sealed metal case together with a preamplifier which performs a preliminary signal processing. Using direct piezoeffect the device forms an electrical signal proportional to the acceleration caused by vibrations.
Applications:
- seismometry sensors for monitoring dynamics of the earth's crust
- security systems based on detecting an acoustical disturbance and locating the source of its origin ( for instance, land frontier guarding systems)
- medical devices for monitoring the source of acoustical disturbance
- monitoring dynamics of transportation road-beds, bridges, dams, viaducts etc.
