Seismic Vibration Threshold Sensor

The threshold sensor is intended for systems that disconnect boiler houses from the gas main during earthquakes exceeding 6.5 points on the Richter scale (the value may be specified according to the Customer’s requirements) and represents a basic design developed in accordance with SP 89.13330.2012 – Boiler Plants (current edition of SNiP II-35-76), etc.

Scope of Application

The sensor is used as relay protection in automation systems to ensure
the safety of industrial and urban facilities against man-made disasters.
The modular design of the threshold sensor makes it possible to place the threshold unit in a
location convenient for the boiler house operator, and the SD-1E seismic sensor at a location in the boiler house (or
outside it) that is least susceptible to parasitic seismic influences (operation of
machinery, ventilation systems, loading and unloading operations, other human-related
factors, etc.). Thus, the system achieves a level of protection against false triggering
(caused by parasitic influences).
With serial connection of the outputs of the threshold units, a
dual or two-channel sensor is obtained, which makes it possible to create a system with
additional levels of protection against false triggering, since the second SD-
1E can be installed in another location of the boiler house and only when simultaneous
seismic threshold воздействие occurs at both sensors will the system be triggered.
This connection scheme is optimal, although it can be further expanded in order to
increase reliability with respect to false triggering.
